Turnpike closure set this weekend
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission has announced a section of the Turnpike will be closed from 11:55 p.m. Saturday until 4 a.m. Sunday.
The section is the area from the Beaver Valley Interchange (Exit 13) to the Cranberry Interchange (Exit 28).
The Turnpike will be closed to eastbound and westbound traffic between the Cranberry interchange and the New Castle interchange.
The overnight closure will give crews time to remove the existing bridge structures for the new Freedom Road Bridge spanning the Turnpike at milepost 28 in Butler County.
The same closures will apply to Aug. 29 to 30 if a backup date is needed.
