Gov. Tom Wolf on Friday again acknowledged the service of the Pennsylvania National Guard throughout the pandemic.

“At a time of uncertainty, facing a whole new kind of enemy, the Pennsylvania National Guard lived up to its slogan 'We live here, we train here, we serve here,'” Wolf said in a news release Friday.

The Pennsylvania National Guard has yet to be needed in Butler County's fight with COVID-19. The county saw three new confirmed cases reported as part of Friday's update by the state Department of Health. The county now has a total of 681 confirmed cases of the virus since the pandemic began and the death toll remains at 17.

Butler Health System on Friday reported treating two inpatients at Butler Memorial Hospital for COVID-19 symptoms. One of the patients has a confirmed case of the virus, and the second is suspected of having the virus.
