12 new cases reported in county
Butler County registered 12 new cases of COVID-19, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s weekend report, with 1,573 additional positive cases statewide.
The state’s figures, confirmed as of noon Sunday, brought the commonwealth’s total cases to 118,852 since March. All 67 counties in Pennsylvania have cases of COVID-19.
Butler County has 661 cases, according to the state. There were 602 confirmed cases, 59 probable cases, and 14,062 negative results.
There are 7,314 deaths attributed to COVID-19 in the state, an increase of 17 new deaths this weekend.
Since the pandemic began, 61 counties have reported at least one death.
Butler County has had 15 deaths.
On Friday, Gov. Tom Wolf and Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine listed 17 counties of concern, including Butler County’s neighbor’s Beaver and Mercer.
Over the weekend, the state reported Mercer County was up 86 cases to 437 and Beaver County was up 59 cases to 1,316 with an additional death, bringing its total to 92 deaths.
Allegheny County saw three new deaths, while Armstrong and Lawrence counties each recorded an additional death.
Allegheny’s COVID-19 death toll is now 247 with 8,624 cases, an increase of 147 over the weekend. It has had 121,359 negative tests. Lawrence County’s deaths rose to 16 with 58 new COVID-19 cases. It has had 8,109 negative tests.
Mercer County has had 8,109 negative to date, while Beaver County has 13,259 negative results and Armstrong 4,249 negative tests.
Following a breakdown from other surrounding counties:
Clarion: 77 confirmed; 2,066 negative; two deaths.
Venango: 48 confirmed and 3,589 negative.
Westmoreland: 1,494 confirmed; 31,728 negative; 46 deaths.
The United States hit 5 million confirmed COVID-19 cases Sunday with more than 162,000 deaths contributed to the virus, according to the Centers for Disease, Control and Prevention.
