Fred D. Thomas

Fred D. Thomas, 87, of Connoquenessing, passed away July 1, 2020.

He was born Dec. 24, 1932, in East Butler, and was the son of the late Harry and Martha (Gilbert) Thomas.

He retired from Pullman Standard in 1982, and from Morgan Management Co. in 2000. He also was a lifetime member of East Butler Fireman's Club.

He is loved and will never be forgotten by his daughters, Val-Dean and her husband, Randy Scott, of Renfrew and Corinne and her husband, Donald (Goldie) Gould, of Butler; his sons, Fred Thomas Jr. and his wife, Terri, of North Carolina and Devin Thomas and his wife, Cindy, of Ellwood City.

He will be forever loved and missed by his granddaughters, Shannon and her husband, Ryan Stevenson, and their children, Case and Hadley, and Brittany Scott and Brandi Scott and her sons, Jimi and Axl.

Also surviving are an additional 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Fred is also survived by a sister, Sarah (Donald) Bortmas; two brothers, Harry Thomas and James Thomas; and one brother-in- law, William (Alice) King.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (King) Thomas; his daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Arthur (Pete) Day; his parents; his sisters, Janet (Leonard) Nocera and Mable (Eugene) Hays; his brothers, Donald (Mary Lou) Thomas and George (Jeanine) Thomas; three sisters-in-law, Beatrice (Bea) Thomas, Yvonne Edwards and Patricia (James) Callahan; one brother-in- law, Alden King; and his mother-in-law, Genevive King.

THOMAS — Friends of Fred D. Thomas, who died Wednesday, July 1, 2020, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Ben Oesterling officiating.Private burial will take place in Greenlawn Burial Estates.In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines mandated by the state of Pennsylvania, face masks are required.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
