Pirates release 2020 schedule
PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Pirates released their 60-game regular season schedule Monday for the 2020 season.
The Pirates will open the season with a three-game series in St. Louis July 24. Their first home game will be July 27 at 7:05 p.m. against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Every American League Central Division team will visit PNC Park this season with the exception of the Kansas City Royals. The Pirates play a weekend series in Kansas City in mid-September.
The Pirates will play a pair of eight-game homestands this season. The Cubs, Reds and White Sox come to town Sept. 1-9 and the Cardinals and Cubs will be in for consecutive four-game series Sept. 17-24.
The Pirates will close the season with a three-game series in Cleveland Sept. 25-27.
MLB released its overall schedule Monday, and it starts with two games July 23. Cole and the New York Yankees visit the World Series champion Washington Nationals at 7:08 p.m. EDT, then Betts and his new Los Angeles Dodgers teammates host the San Francisco Giants at 10:08 p.m.
The season ends on Sept. 27, with all 30 teams starting their games at 3 p.m. EDT to possibly make for a final-day playoff scramble. Most games this season, however, are at night.
Teams will play 40 games against their division opponents. The other 20 will be interleague games.
