Pence to make stop in Butler County to promote Trump economic recovery vision

Vice President Mike Pence participates in a roundtable discussion with small business owners on reopening America at Unity National Bank on Friday, May 29, 2020, in Atlanta.

Vice President Mike Pence will visit Butler County on Friday afternoon to discuss the economic recovery in wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Pence is scheduled to be at Oberg Industries on Route 356 in Buffalo Township for the invitation-only event that is sponsored by America First Policies, a nonprofit group that promotes President Donald Trump's agenda.

The vice president is expected to speak for about 25 minutes, said Matt Stroia, chief of staff for U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, R-16th. Before that, Kelly and U.S. Reps. Glenn Thompson, R-15th, and Guy Reschenthaler, R-14th, will take questions from a moderator with the group.

In talking about reopening and revitalizing the economy, Pence will “highlight these concerns, elevate the economic policy proposals that work and listen to the needs of small businesses and their employees across the country,” according to Brian Walsh, president of America First Policies.

Billed as the beginning of the “Great American Comeback Tour,” the visit is the kick-off to similar events that will be held across the country featuring “special guests” from the Trump administration, Walsh said in an email.

Other participants in the stops will include federal, state and local elected officials and private sector experts “to mobilize and educate citizens behind policies that will drive America's economic recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic,” Walsh said.
