Major milestones still marked during pandemic
Caitlin Shaw, left, her mother, Peggy Wilson, and Bev McCanch wave to Wilson's mom and Shaw's grandmother, Carol Kremer, at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Saturday. Family gathered outside for Kremer's 82nd birthday.
The COVID-19 pandemic social-distancing precautions have made family birthday get-togethers a little more complicated.
Instead of just getting a cake and a card for an older relative, now preparations mean scheduling a Zoom or FaceTime conference time and rounding up children to wave and hold signs and banners from a distance.
Peggy Wilson of Butler arranged to have her brothers, other family members and friends gather Saturday afternoon beneath a second-story window to give their best to their mother, Carol Kremer, 82, a Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center resident.
This is an excerpt from a story appearing in Monday's Butler Eagle.
