Butler man, 25, jailed on trespassing charges

State police arrested a Butler man Monday on charges he entered a Winfield Township home uninvited.

Troopers found the suspect, 25-year-old Brandon K. Fairtrace, after they were called about 7:40 a.m. for a report of a man who had broken into the house on Marjory Lane, police said.

The alleged victim told troopers that the defendant, who she identified as the ex-boyfriend of her niece, showed up there and started banging on doors to get in, according to charging documents.

The woman recounted that Fairtrace asked to see his children. She told him that he was not welcome in the home and advised him to remain outside, police said.

But he allegedly “walked to the side of the (home) and made entry into the residence through an unlocked door,” documents said.

District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Fairtrace on a felony charge of trespass and misdemeanor charges of trespass and disorderly conduct. He was placed in the Butler County Prison in lieu $5,000 bond following arraignment.

His preliminary hearing is set April 15 at Haggerty's office in Saxonburg. Online court records did not indicate if he has an attorney.
