St. Barnabas treats COVID-19 patients
The conditions of two patients with COVID-19 at St. Barnabas Nursing Home in Allegheny County have improved.
The patients, which St. Barnabas originally reported Sunday, are quarantined at St. Barnabas Nursing Home in Richland Township and have not been hospitalized. Both received Azithromycin and Plaquenil under the care of Dr. William Zillweger, St. Barnabas medical director.
In addition to these two patients, one new patient at St. Barnabas Nursing Home has tested positive and has been quarantined. All three are being closely monitored, as are all other residents and patients in St. Barnabas facilities.
Staff members who had contact with the patients were screened, tested and found to have no related symptoms.
St. Barnabas does have one employee who has tested positive. The employee is under a doctor’s care and is not in any St. Barnabas facility.
There are no cases of COVID-19 at any other St. Barnabas locations in Allegheny, Beaver or Butler counties.
St. Barnabas continues to follow the health guidelines established by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
