Police: Unruly suspect tackled
A Butler man is accused of causing a disturbance and swiping an energy drink at a Butler pizza shop, and later resisting arrest.
State police said they eventually had to tackle 23-year-old Dustin W. Scott outside Penn Street Pizza on Friday. He is in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bond and two probation violations.
The defendant had been at the pizza place about 1 p.m. and was told by the owner to leave and not return. But he did return later, intoxicated, police said, and started yelling at customers.
A trooper got there and met the owner, who reported that Scott had taken a Monster drink from the cooler without paying for it. The officer asked for Scott's identification but the defendant walked away.
When the trooper tried to stop Scott from leaving, the suspect pushed away. Police said they took Scott to the ground and handcuffed him.
On Saturday, District Judge Kevin O'Donnell arraigned Scott on charges of misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct, retail theft, resisting arrest, defiant trespass, and a summary charge of public drunkenness.
