Telemedicine is now an option for Pennsylvania healthcare professionals licensed under any of the Department of State's Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs (BPOA) during the coronavirus emergency.

According to a Wednesday press release from the Pennsylvania Department of State, healthcare professionals on the following boards are allowed to use telemedicine to treat state residents, when appropriate, due to COVID-19.

• Chiropractic

• Dentistry

• Medicine

• Nursing

• Optometry

• Pharmacy

• Podiatry

• Psychology

• Osteopathic Medicine

• Nursing Home Administrators

• Occupational Therapy Education and Licensure

• Physical Therapy

•Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Professional Counselors

• Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology

• Veterinary Medicine

The Department of State was also granted their request to allow licensed practitioners in other states to provide services to Pennsylvanians through telemedicine for the duration of the outbreak without obtaining a Pennsylvania license. Out-of-state practitioners must be licensed and in good standing in their home state and provide the Pennsylvania board in charge of their profession their licensing information from their home state.
