Carl Shuler

Carl R. Shuler, 80, of Fenelton passed away peacefully on Jan. 15, 2020, at his home with his family by his side.

Born April 13, 1939, in Clearfield Township, he was the son of Louis Joseph Shuler and Margaret Leona Walker Shuler.

Carl served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force as a civil engineer in Dover, Del.

He worked for Armco from 1957 until his retirement in 1996.

In his not so spare time, he farmed full-time. He enjoyed tractor pulling, traveling, hunting, national farm machinery shows, riding horses, square dancing, ballroom dancing, bingo and was a motorcycle enthusiast.

He was a member of the Western PA Tractor and Truck Pullers, the National Tractor Pullers Association, the American Tractor Pullers Association, the PA Farm Bureau and the National Charolais Association.

Surviving are his children, Carl R. Shuler Jr. of Fenelton, John J. (Christine O'Neil) Shuler of Fenelton, Raymond R. Nye of Fenelton, Carol A. (Edward) Shuler Wagner of Fenelton, and Adele A. (Adam) Crawford of Chicora; his brother, George J. (Mary Alice) Shuler of Butler; his sister, Nancy (Kenneth) Shuler Roach of Butler; eight grandchildren, Jake (Jessica) Shuler, Amanda (Johnathan) Faith, Katelen Shuler, Christopher, Chase and Johanna Shuler, and Autumn and Anna June Crawford; and two great-grandchildren, Grace and Caden Shuler.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Marilyn June Foertsch Shuler, who died on Sept. 6, 2012; his second wife, Rose Marie Dunkle Shuler, who died on May 19, 2019; and his brother, Raymond Shuler.

SHULER — Friends of Carl R. Shuler, who died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2020, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Fox Funeral Home, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. David West officiating.Interment will follow in Good Shepherd Cemetery on the Shuler family farm in Fenelton, with military honors performed by the Saxonburg American Legion.Memorial donations may be made to Butler County 4-H/Penn State Extension, 101 Motor Pool Way, Butler, PA 16001.Please visit www.foxfuneralhomeinc.com.
