Police: Man threatened to set himself on fire
FORWARD TWP — Charges are pending against a man who state police said doused himself with gasoline and threatened to light himself on fire during a domestic dispute last week.
Police did not identify the 27-year-old Slippery Rock man, who was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital by ambulance for unspecified medical attention.
Police said troopers were called shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday to a home on Baney Lane in Forward Township, where the suspect's 49-year-old mother and 51-year-old stepfather live. The initial call was for a reported verbal argument.
But while troopers were en route, according to a police report, the altercation escalated with a man, later identified as the suspect, having doused himself with gas.
He also reportedly poured gas on the wooden porch and was “threatening to light himself and the residence on fire while brandishing a lighter,” the report said.
Police said they later learned the incident occurred after the suspect became angry that he was unable to gain access to a computer that his stepfather had locked.
