Stolen rifle sold later at gun shop
CHICORA — A Clay Township couple is accused in connection with the theft of a rifle that was later sold at a gun store.
The suspects — Mitchell J. Ferguson, 31, and Jenna M. Hutchison, 24 — are both wanted on felony arrest warrants issued earlier this month in the case.
State police said Ferguson stole the antique Yugoslavian SKS rifle Jan. 4 from his mother's house on Casper Lane in Clay Township.
Ferguson and Hutchison, his girlfriend, later sold the rifle for $150 at Logan's Gun Shop in Washington Township, according to court documents.
“Hutchison was given a check for $150 for the rifle,” Trooper Tyler Dubovi said in his affidavit.
On Jan. 6, District Judge Lewis Stoughton signed the arrest warrants for both defendants. Ferguson is charged with felony counts of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. Hutchison is charged with a felony count of theft by deception.
Butler County court records showed that Ferguson is wanted on a bench warrant for failing to appear at a parole revocation hearing in an unrelated simple assault case.
