Driver unhurt in salt truck mishap

A Jefferson Township salt truck flipped onto its side Wednesday morning after sliding into a ditch along Bullcreek Road. The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured.

JEFFERSON TWP — The driver of a township salt truck was wearing his seat belt when his vehicle flipped onto its side Wednesday morning.

Leo Rosenbauer, township manager, said the truck hit a soft spot at the edge of Bullcreek Road around 9 a.m. as the driver was spreading salt.

Because there is no berm on that stretch of Bullcreek Road, the truck slid into a ditch after hitting the soft ground and turned onto its side, dumping the load of salt.

Rosenbauer said the driver was uninjured in the accident because he was wearing his seat belt.

He added the only damage sustained by the truck was a small hydraulic line, which the township maintenance crew already repaired.

“The truck will be back up and running today or (Thursday),” he said.

State police and the township responded to the accident, which was quickly cleared.
