Fire totals mobile home; no one hurt
PARKER TWP — No one was inside an abandoned mobile home that burned down in a remote part of Parker Township on Saturday night.
Fire crews were dispatched to the singlewide mobile home at 437 Daubenspeck Road around 8:25 p.m. Saturday after a nearby farmer spotted the blaze and called 911. Fire Chief Eric Feicht of the Bruin Volunteer Fire Department said it was fully engulfed when crews arrived at the scene, leaving them little to do but extinguish what remained and clean up the mess.
Upon arriving, Bruin firefighters called off other teams and handled the scene.
The mobile home had been unoccupied since last spring, Feicht said. Its owner moved to Washington County to live with family after a medical issue, according to Feicht.
Butler County property records list the plot of land's owner as Howard Davis.
The cause of the fire is undetermined, Feicht said, although a state fire marshal investigator is going to come sometime in the near future to conduct an investigation.
The home had electrical service turned on.
Feicht said Sunday they were still having difficulty determining whether the structure was insured.
