A retired boxer and Butler businessman is ready to step into the political.

“The boxing career is over for me, but the fight is just beginning,” said Ryan Covert.

A packed Snack-N-Pack dining room erupted in applause as Ryan Covert announced he will run for the Republican nomination for the state's 11th House District, a seat currently held by Republican Marci Mustello.

A 1997 graduate of Butler Area High School, Covert is a part-owner of the Snack N Pack, Butler Hot Dog Shoppe and Over the Top Truck Wash and Fleet Detailing.
