Harrisville man killed in Route 8 crash
SLIPPERY ROCK TWP — A Harrisville man died Monday night as the result of injuries sustained in a one-vehicle crash on Route 8.
State police confirmed Tuesday morning the driver of the vehicle, Michael Brown, 30, died following the crash on William Flynn Highway near Boozel Road.
Butler County Coroner Bill Young said Brown was pronounced dead at the scene.
Young said he noticed the truck was heavily damaged on the driver's side, and fallen trees lay around the site.
“The cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head and chest,” Young said.
According to authorities, Brown was northbound on Route 8 about 8:56 p.m. when his 2012 Ford F-150XLT crossed the road into the southbound lane, went over an embankment, hit a small tree and then came to rest at the base of a larger tree west of William Flynn Highway.
Investigators confirmed Brown was wearing his seat belt, and multiple airbags deployed within the truck.
Emergency responders from Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company & Rescue Team and Unionville Volunteer Fire Company were on scene Monday night.
William Flynn Highway was closed several hours while state police investigated the crash and the vehicle was towed.
