The Butler Township Police Department is accepting applications for its free citizens police academy until 4:30 p.m. Jan. 7.

The academy begins Jan. 14 and consists of seven classes held on consecutive Tuesdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The academy is open to the public, but township residents and business owners will be given priority.

A maximum of 15 people will be accepted into the program. Applications can be obtained at the department, located at 290 S. Duffy Road, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
