JACKSON TWP — Two Seneca Valley students were taken into police custody Tuesday morning when a gun was found in a car on campus.

According to a recorded message sent to district families by Superintendent Tracy Vitale, a firearm was allegedly found in the glove box of a student's vehicle at the Intermediate High School after other students reported seeing it.

The school resource officer and Jackson Township Police responded immediately and began an investigation with district administrators.

The message stated that Jackson Township police believe the weapon was sold to that student by another student at the school, which houses students in ninth and 10th grades. Both students were removed from the campus and arrested by township police.

The police department did not immediately make public any further information.

Vitale's message said the investigation began immediately after students reported seeing the firearm. She said all students and staff are safe.
