I-79 crash sends driver to hospital
CRANBERRY TWP — Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company and Cranberry EMS responded to a one-car crash Monday morning on northbound Interstate 79.
First responders were dispatched to the scene near mile marker 81.4 around 8:08 a.m., according to John Pristas, the department's assistant fire chief.
Pristas said the driver apparently overcorrected after she thought another vehicle was entering her lane. She struck the median and came to rest perpendicular to the lane.
The left lane was temporarily closed, according to Pristas. The scene was cleared before 9 a.m.
The driver was transported to Allegheny General Hospital via ambulance. Pristas said she appeared not to be wearing a seat belt.
Harmony Fire District responded to the call, but was canceled.
