Turnpike to buy pool for lane project
MONROEVILLE — The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission has agreed to pay the town of Monroeville nearly $1 million for its public swimming pool at Bel-Aire park, a Pittsburgh newspaper reports.
Motorists won’t be able to take a refreshing dip, though. The turnpike is planning a major widening project on Interstate 76 between the Irwin and Monroeville exchanges, and the pool will need to go.
Monroeville residents will still have several other public swimming options.
