Woman named as an 'Employee of the Year'
Lisa Kahle of Jackson Township said it was a bit strange to be interviewed.
She said the questions remind her of the ones she asks her colleagues at Pressley Ridge to prepare marketing material for the masses.
Kahle was recognized as an “Employee of the Year” at the Pittsburgh-based company that employs 1,100 employees in six states.
Kahle has been manager of marketing and development communications for the organization since 2016.
“Our history has always been in serving children and families,” Kahle said.
She said the organization started in 1832 as two orphanages and has grown to serve more than 10,000 children and their families through foster care, special education and mental health services.
For the past three years, Kahle has had her fingerprints on every piece of marketing material throughout the organization, including social media, newsletters and media reports, among others.
She said her work behind the scenes makes the recognition more rewarding for her.
“It's nice to feel appreciated,” Kahle said. “I love the work that I do.”
According to Kahle, nothing beats her daily interaction with children, particularly at the two latest schools for autistic and deaf children, recently built at the North Side Campus in Pittsburgh.
“My favorite part of the job is being able to interact with the kids we support,” Kahle said.
She said she appreciates being a part of Pressley Ridge, and she is thankful to be a part of their work.
“It has been very rewarding to be in the position of being able to tell the great success stories that we have coming out of the organization,” Kahle said.
