3-car crash blocks Rte. 19 in Cranberry
CRANBERRY TWP — A three-car accident shut down both northbound lanes of Route 19 just north of Rowan Road for more than a half-hour Tuesday night.
Firefighters were called to the scene at about 7:20 p.m. One car sat in the left turn lane at the intersection of Route 19 southbound and Rowan Road, while another ended up over the curb on the north edge of Rowan Road. The third car was not disabled and was able to turn into an adjacent parking lot.
One person was transported to UPMC Passavant-Cranberry with neck pain, according to the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company.
The cause of the crash was not immediately known to firefighters, but one sedan suffered heavy front-end damage while another had extensive damage to the passenger side. The third car was struck by debris from the collision.
The accident was cleared, and both lanes of Route 19 northbound reopened just before 8 p.m.
