Bruin woman accused of bringing drugs into prison
A Bruin woman is accused of bringing prescription drugs into the Butler County Prison.
State police said 22-year-old Cheyenne L. Goodin was taken to the prison following her arrest for an alleged domestic dispute about 11 a.m. Friday at her home. She was booked in around 3:30 p.m.
But not long after, authorities said, Goodin was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for an unspecified medical condition. At the hospital, medical staff allegedly found a glove hidden inside her body.
Once the glove was removed, according to charging documents, authorities found drugs for which she did not have a prescription. The drugs included clonazepam, buprenorphine hydrochloride and alprazolam.
District Judge Kevin O'Donnell arraigned Goodin on a felony charge of bringing a controlled substance into the prison and a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance.
Earlier Friday, District Judge Lewis Stoughton arraigned her and Gilbert E. Smith, 40, of Bruin on charges stemming from the domestic dispute at the couple's home at 10:59 p.m. on Lincoln Lane.
Police said in that case, Smith threw Goodin on the ground and struck her several times, while she allegedly sliced the man's hand with a knife. Both defendants were arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment.
Goodin is in the prison on combined $20,000 bond in both cases. Smith is free on nonmonetary bond.
