3 arrested, drugs seized in raid at Butler apartment

Suspected heroin, crack cocaine and marijuana were seized along with drug-packaging materials, hundreds of dollars and other contraband during a Tuesday night raid at a Butler apartment, authorities said.

Arrested at the home on the 400 block of Zeigler Avenue was William M. Griffin III, 35, of Pittsburgh; and the tenants, Todd V. Scialabba, 46, and Amy M. Schiebel, 40.

All three defendants are charged with felony and misdemeanor counts of drug possession and conspiracy. They are in the Butler County Prison on $50,000 bail each.A sealed search warrant was executed at the apartment shortly before 9 p.m., according to the state police vice unit, which led the investigation.Griffin was found on the couch in the living room, police said, and Scialabba and Schiebel were in the bedroom. Officers said they found Griffin with $659 in currency. Scialabba was carrying $96.In the bedroom, according to investigators, were 10 stamp bags of suspected heroin, a baggie of suspected crack and three plastic baggies of suspected marijuana.Also in the same room were several pills, three syringes, six drug-smoking pipes, a digital scale, plastic baggies and sandwich bags.

Police said that during the search of the home, they also seized additional packaging items, a baggie corner containing suspected crack, another scale and two cell phones.Court records showed Griffen has three prior felony drug convictions, all in Butler County, and Scialabba is already awaiting trial on a felony drug charge.In his pending court case, Scialabba is accused of having cocaine hidden in one of his socks July 10 at the Butler County Prison, where he was taken on a warrant following a traffic stop in Butler.
