Virginia Kummer
Virginia Jane (Patten) Kummer, 85, of Gibsonia, formerly of Butler, passed away on Aug. 22, 2019, at her daughter’s residence.
She was born Jan. 7, 1934, in Butler, and was the daughter of the late Homer A. Patten and the late Margaret (Sutliffe) Patten.
Virginia worked as a clerk for Nationwide Insurance.
She was Baptist by faith.
Virginia enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She liked to read Christian novels and ride Harleys.
Virginia is survived by her two daughters, Vickie L. Hopson of Gibsonia, and Patricia A. (Steven B.) Norwitz of Wilmington, Del.; and one son, Thomas B. (Diane) Kummer of Gaithersburg, Md.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman B. Kummer, whom she married on Dec. 7, 1951, and who passed away on May 26, 2007; one son, Lyndon B. Kummer; and one son-in-law, Jim Hopson.
KUMMER — As per her wishes, there will be no public visitation for Virginia Jane (Patten) Kummer, who died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum at Greenlawn Burial Estates.
Arrangements were entrusted to Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Butler.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to any veteran’s organization.
