Antique rifle stolen from camp
PARKER TWP — An antique rifle, ammunition and two guitars were among the items stolen during a daylight burglary at a camp in the township, authorities said.
State police said they are investigating the break-in last month at the property on Sand Road belonging to a 42-year-old Allegheny County man.
There are apparently no suspects, but investigators believe the burglar drove to the home in a dark colored Dodge Ram pickup truck around 9:40 a.m. Sept. 9, according to a police report.
The burglar entered a locked garage before going into the locked camp by way of a rear door. Taken from the camp was a Swiss Vetterli model M78 military service rifle from the 1800s that is valued at $600.
Other items stolen were two acoustic guitars, a laptop computer, boxes of assorted knives and ammunition, gun-cleaning kits, a tool box and a cowboy hat.
In all, the stolen property is valued at nearly $2,000.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.
