GROVE CITY — Student robot builders from a dozen schools including Grove City and Union will descend on Grove City College this weekend for the Grove City College BEST Robotics competition.The action begins at 5 p.m. Friday when teams make marketing presentations detailing their robot's design, construction and mission in the College's IM Room in the Physical Learning Center.Game Day begins at 9 a.m. Saturday in the Arena of the Physical Learning Center. Student teams are challenged to build robots that can help restore the electric grid.
CRANBERRY TWP — The Cranberry Public Library, 2525 Rochester Road, will host “Witches of Pennsylvania” presented by Thomas White at 6 p.m. Oct. 29.Since William Penn presided over the state's only official witch trial in 1684, witchcraft and folk magic have been a part of the history of the Keystone state.Thomas White is the university archivist and curator of special collections at Duquesne University.Seating is limited. GROVE CITY — Experience the wonders of the night sky at Grove City College's Wolverine Skies 2019 from 8 to 10 p.m. Friday.The Department of Physics will have numerous telescopes set up on the campus Quad, between Crawford Hall and Harbison Chapel, for a viewing session led by resident astronomer Dr. James Clem, professor of physics.Physics faculty will be on hand to help the public experience and understand a variety of celestial objects.Wolverine Skies is free and open to the public. BRUIN — Pumpkin Fest will run from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday in Bruin Community Park.Open to all ages, the event will feature games, food and a bounce house. The event is sponsored by the United Methodist Churches of the Petroleum Valley.
