Alleged marijuana scheme busted
A total of 11 people have been arrested and hundreds of thousands of dollars have been seized in an alleged Butler County marijuana selling operation, according to published reports.
The arrests follow a two-year investigation by the state attorney general’s office in Butler and Armstrong counties.
The alleged drug sales took place between September 2016 and October 2018. Among those arrested were Savannah Blust and her boyfriend, Macklin Haye, and the operation’s hub was allegedly located at Haye’s parents’ home in Karns City, according to published reports.
During the bust, police allegedly seized hundreds of thousands of dollars in marijuana, marijuana oil and wax, drug paraphernalia and more than $130,000 in cash, published reports said.
Blust and Haye have previous drug-related charges. A 2017 home invasion in which they were the victims led the couple to call police, who then found drugs and $67,928 in cash hidden in their Petrolia home, the Butler Eagle reported at that time. In that previous case, Haye was sentenced in March 2018 to nine to 18 months in Butler County Prison followed by 36 months of probation, 60 months of the county Intermediate Punishment Program and 12 months on house arrest with electronic monitoring. Blust was sentenced in that case to six to 12 months in Butler County Prison followed by 36 months of probation. She was also ordered to pay a $500 fine and court costs.
