Zelie On Tap features craft beer, live music

ZELIENOPLE — While the renovated pool in Zelienople Community Park opened this year to the delight of the community, there still are needs to be met.

With amenities and other future upgrades in the works, officials are hoping this year's Zelie On Tap craft beer festival will help get it over the funding hump.

The annual festival is scheduled for Oct. 12 on the Legion ballfield at the top of the hill in Community Park. Proceeds from the event also go to the Zelienople Public Library.

According to Jen Semel, treasurer of the Community Park Board, this is the last year the proceeds from the event will go toward the pool project. She said the remaining needs may be small, but “cost most than one realizes.”

The event is split into two sessions — one from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and one from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. More than 20 breweries will be on hand serving craft beers. Food is included in the ticket cost.

Live music is also scheduled, with performances by The Noble Hops and Shag Dog Melon Head during the first session and The Noble Hops and Lucky Me during the second.

Tickets are $40 per person in advance and $45 at the door. A $60 VIP admission ticket gains access an hour early for the second session, exclusive beer and food options, a tasting glass, front row concert seats and VIP restrooms.

Tickets are available at the Zelienople Public Library or online at eventbrite.com.

With the event taking place the same day as the Zelienople Country Fall Festival, Semel said she hopes visitors to town make their way from downtown to the park for the event.

“It's a really nice time, and we are hoping for a good turnout,” she said.
