Deceased pedestrian identified as veteran
CHICORA — The pedestrian who was struck and killed Sunday night has been identified.
The man is Joshua Dibble, 35, of Butler, according to Chief Deputy Coroner John Hanovick.
Hanovick said the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head, presumed to be from a vehicle that struck him around 2:30 a.m. on South Main Street in Chicora.
Hanovick said a standard toxicology report will take four to six weeks to conclude.
State police are investigating the incident.
According to Dibble’s obituary, he was a 2002 graduate of Karns City High School, after which he served for the last 18 years in the U.S. Navy as a diesel mechanic. “His military career took him around the world serving in South America, Africa and Australia,” the obituary said. “He was honorably discharged weeks ago.”
Dibble will receive military honors upon his burial.
He was a father of four children, a member of the East Brady United Methodist Church and an avid hunter.
His obituary can be read in today's edition of the Butler Eagle.
