Man arrested in gun threat
A Butler man is behind bars while awaiting a hearing on charges that he held a handgun to a woman's head and threatened to shoot her at his home. No one was injured in the Friday incident.
City police arrested Shylear W. Person, 22, of Butler. He is charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats and possession of a small amount of marijuana.
Police described the incident as domestic, but the relationship between Person and the 23-year-old Butler woman was not immediately clear.
The woman told officers that she and the defendant got into an argument around 2 p.m. Friday. He allegedly threatened her while holding a gun to her head, police said.
She believed the gun was a .45-caliber pistol. Police later recovered a magazine for a .45-caliber handgun that was inside a plastic bucket at the home.
Police said Person was subsequently taken into custody and searched. He was allegedly found with a small baggie containing suspected marijuana. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday.
