Moniteau superintendent submits resignation to board
Sean Arney, superintendent of Moniteau School District, announced his resignation Monday night.
District solicitor Andrea Parenti said Arney submitted his resignation to the school board during the district's regular board meeting, and school board members approved it.
Arney indicated to the board he plans to return to Montgomery County in eastern Pennsylvania for various family reasons. He joined Moniteau in 2017 after leaving a school district in that area.
His final day has yet to be determined. For now, Arney will continue working as the district's superintendent and conducting business as usual.
Arney was not able to be reached for comment Tuesday. He was one of seven candidates interviewed for the Moniteau position in 2017. He was previously the assistant superintendent of the Upper Perkiomen School District in Montgomery County.
Before Arney, the superintendent was George Svolos. Svolos' term lasted six years.
Arney was hired at $137,000. He currently makes $142,884, according to the district's business office.
