TV's 'Fishing University' films show at county lakes

Butler County played host last week to the Outdoor Channel’s “Fishing University.”

The competitive fishing program boasts how-to tips and tricks of the trade and is popular among competitive amateur and professional anglers.

Hosts Charlie Ingram and Ray Brazier bobbed along in Lake Arthur and Glade Run Lake between Sept. 6 and Friday.

“The county is very proud to host ‘Fishing University’ and showcase the beauty of Moraine State Park and Glade Run Lake,” said Jack Cohen, president of the Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau. “We are excited to market our area in a new way and look forward to raising awareness about all the wonderful things to do in Butler County.”

The show used the visit to produce a 30-minute show scheduled to air in 2020 on the Outdoor Channel’s World Fishing Network and the Sportsman Channel.

While in Butler County, the hosts, film crew and representatives from Jennings Environmental Education Center and Moraine State Park presented a one-hour program at Butler Area Senior High School and Knoch High School.

During that time, the hosts shared with students the importance of an education and available outdoor career options.

They also held a question-and-answer session that centered on discussions of college degrees for communications, marketing, biology, wildlife management and animal husbandry.

Each school will have a two-minute segment within the show, according to the Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau.
