Father, son hurt in cycle crash
CONNOQUENESSING TWP — A father and son apparently suffered only minor injuries Sunday afternoon when the motorcycle they were riding crashed on Eagle Mill Road, authorities said.
The driver, a 35-year-old Butler Township man, lost control of the Harley-Davidson about 2:30 p.m. while northbound on the road just north of Metrick's Harvest View Farm & Market in Connoquenessing Township, state police said.
Authorities did not immediately release the names of the man or his 13-year-old son. Both riders were on the road when police and emergency crews arrived. Both were wearing helmets.
Police said the man was “woozy” and complained of shoulder pain. A Butler Ambulance Service crew tended to him before he was taken to the nearby Mount Chestnut Presbyterian Church on West Old Route 422, where Unionville volunteer firefighters set up a landing zone for a medical helicopter
He was flown to an unknown Pittsburgh hospital.
Police said the boy was later taken to Butler Memorial Hospital primarily for precautionary reasons.
No one saw the crash but several motorists came upon the wreck and stopped to help. Some stayed to assist by keeping the boy from moving until emergency crews arrived.
A cause of the crash was not immediately known.
