A young driver suffered apparently minor injuries after she lost control of her car and overturned in woods about 7:30 a.m. Thursday on McCalmont Road in Butler Township.

BUTLER TWP — A vehicle ended up overturned in the woods Thursday morning on McCalmont Road in Butler Township.

The crash occurred about one-half mile west of Route 8 near the Penn Township line.

The driver, Hanna Downs, 17, of Cranberry Township, escaped with just minor injuries, but refused treatment at the scene, according to authorities.

Township police said she was traveling south around 7:30 a.m. when she lost control of the vehicle, which crossed over the northbound lane and crashed into trees and brush about 50 feet off the road.

No other details were available as the accident investigation continues.
