BUFFALO TWP — Forming a new support and educational group for grandparents who are partly or wholly responsible for their grandchildren's care depends on the results of a preliminary meeting on Sunday.

Rev. Rob Swinsburg, pastor at Westminster Presbyterian Church, encouraged interested grandparents to attend Sunday's informational meeting at 2 p.m. in the church's Fellowship Hall at 210 Westminster Road, Sarver.

Formation of a group for grandparents who care for their grandchildren will be determined based on turnout, Swinsburg said.

“This is all new territory for us,” he said. “We're just checking to see if there is enough interest.”

He said all grandparents who help care for or are raising their grandchildren are invited to attend.

“There are a lot of grandparents who, for a number of reasons, are involved in raising their grandchildren,” Swinsburg said.

He said a licensed counselor will facilitate the group, and will be on-hand Sunday.

Once a group starts, members will determine the agenda, schedule, activities and other facets of the group as it moves forward.
