Emergency crews are currently on scene of a three-vehicle crash on Route 8 in Penn Township at the intersection of Airport Road.

PENN TWP - Route 8 was at a standstill following a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Airport Road. The crash occurred about 7:30 a.m. and closed the road in both directions briefly as medical helicopters responded to the scene.

Southbound lanes remain closed at this time.

According to authorities, six people were injured in the accident. All were entrapped and had to be extricated by mechanical means.

Police report the accident involved a car and two minivans. Four of the crash victims were transported by helicopter to unknown hospitals and two others were transported by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital.
