Butler police are investigating the alleged rape of a girl last month at Memorial Park.

The girl, who is from Butler, reported the assault Saturday, but told authorities it happened about a week earlier.

Police said they have a suspect, who they only identified as a man. Investigators said the alleged victim and suspect knew each other.

Citing the “ongoing and active investigation,” police declined to release any other details Monday.

Anyone with information about the alleged assault is asked to call 911.
