A section of State Route 3029/Dick Road between Shannon Road in Connoquenessing Township and Country Lane Road in Franklin Township will close earlier than planned. The earlier closure, which goes into effect Aug. 29 at noon, is intended to ensure the safety of motorists as maintenance crews from the state’s Department of Transportation repair a slide/embankment failure on the section of the road.

The road was originally expected to close Sept. 9. It is scheduled to reopen Oct. 11. The cost of repairing the embankment failure is $275,000.

As a detour, motorists can take Shannon Road to Prospect Road to Country Lane Road, and then back to Dick Road.
