Visitors to Thursday's Mingle on Main event in Saxonburg will have a chance to view the stained-glass windows of St. Luke's Lutheran Church and learn their history.

SAXONBURG — Visitors to Thursday's Mingle on Main event in Saxonburg will have a chance to view the stained-glass windows of a Main Street church and learn their history.

St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 310 W. Main St., is celebrating its 150th year and has invited the public to see its windows during Mingle on Main.'

Tours will be conducted at 6 and 7 p.m. by Jeannine Sanford, a church member.

When St. Luke's congregation built the present church in 1928, certain items were eliminated to cut the cost of construction. One particular item was the idea of “art glass” windows. This action by council saved $840.

The church windows were given as inspiration by various families and church groups in 1947.
