SLIPPERY ROCK — One of two charges has been withdrawn against a Worth Township man who allegedly crashed into another vehicle on purpose.

Charges against Zachary D. Ilgen, 22, were waived to court with one count of aggravated assault being withdrawn Wednesday before District Judge Bill O'Donnell in Slippery Rock.

The prosecution initially charged Ilgen with two counts of aggravated assault stemming from the March crash.

According to the state police criminal complaint, Ilgen intentionally crashed into a triaxle truck with intent to strike it head-on.

According to the complaint, the truck driver suffered minor injuries, and Ilgen needed medical attention for his injuries.

Assistant District Attorney Russell Karl said the prosecution maintained the aggravated assault with indifference to the value of human life, but withdrew the second count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, which was applicable because of Ilgen's use of his car.

“I felt count one was sufficient,” Karl said.

Ilgen waived his right to a preliminary hearing, and he left on his own recognizance along with his parents.

Ilgen is set to appear for arraignment on Oct. 1.

Attorney Michael Pawk had no comment.
