Stolen car report leads to arrests of 2 women at hotel
BUTLER TWP — A reported stolen car found at a hotel parking lot led to the weekend arrest of two women.
Robin R. Lieser, 49, of Butler Township is in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail on a felony charge of receiving stolen property.
Nancy A. Hinchberger, 52, of Butler is being held on an unrelated bench warrant. Police charged her by summons Tuesday with misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
A Butler Township patrol officer came upon a Hyundai Elantra about 1:05 a.m. Saturday in the rear parking lot at the Super 8 hotel on Route 8 South. He ran the license plate and discovered it was stolen out of the township.
The stolen vehicle report, according to charging documents, identified Lieser, the owner's daughter, as a suspect in the vehicle theft.
The officer subsequently learned that Lieser had rented a room at the hotel. She registered the Hyundai when she checked in, police said. The officer found her in the room.
“Lieser advised that she (had) the keys to the vehicle,” documents said, “(but) that she did not steal the vehicle, she just took her mother's car without her permission.”Police eventually contacted a tow company, which hauled away the car for them.While investigating, police also found Hinchberger in the hotel. They learned she was wanted on a warrant. She subsequently was searched.Police said in her purse they found a baggie and a plastic container with suspected crack cocaine, as well as Chore Boy copper scrubber, which is commonly used to filter drug-smoking pipes.A preliminary hearing for Lieser is set for 9 a.m. Thursday. Hinchberger's hearing was not immediately scheduled.
