Butler County residents should prepare of the possibility of severe thunderstorms hitting the county Tuesday evening, according to a special weather statement issued by the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh.

In the statement released at 4:35 p.m., NWS is expecting a line of strong thunderstorms to move northeast through the county at 35 miles per hour. The NWS says the storm could bring with it small hail and wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour.

The statement says the following locations expected to be impacted by the storm includes Cranberry, Franklin, Sugarcreek, Meridian, Meadowood, Evans City, Butler, Homeacre-Lyndora, Shanor-Northvue, Slippery Rock, Oak Hills, and Prospect.
