EVANS CITY — A 60-year-old woman has been arrested after she allegedly pretended to be asleep and then kicked two police officers after they responded to a domestic dispute at her home Sunday, police said.

Kathleen Ann Kelley is accused of two counts of aggravated assault, a second-degree felony, for allegedly striking two officers; three counts of simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor; two counts of resisting arrest, also a second-degree misdemeanor; and disorderly conduct, a third-degree misdemeanor.

Police arrived at Kelley's house to respond to an alleged domestic violence situation. At the scene, they allegedly found scratch marks on her boyfriend's neck, right arm and upper chest, according to Officer Richard Conti's affidavit. When they entered the house, they located the 60-year-old woman “lying in her bed using the covers to act as if she was asleep,” Conti's affidavit reads. The officer told Kelley she was under arrest, according to the affidavit, and to put on pants.

While she was able to put on a pair of shorts “without assistance” from the police, the affidavit reads, she did not get out of bed, instead allegedly becoming combative and shouting obscenities. Conti said he and Cpl. Scott Longdon had to use “hard empty hand control” to take her into custody.

At the police station in Evans City, the officers allegedly had to “transport her physically” from the back of the police car and into a holding cell due to what they said was noncompliance. When in the holding cell, police allege, Kelley kicked Longdon in the chest and leg before slapping him in the face. Following that, Kelley allegedly struck Conti in the chest and attempted to kick his leg.

She was released Monday morning on $6,000 unsecured bail.
