Kentucky man accused of threatening to kill wife

SUMMIT TWP — A Kentucky man was arrested Monday night after he allegedly choked his wife and threatened to kill her during a domestic dispute at the Smith Grove Campground, authorities said.

Kyle D. Madden, 34, of Greenup is in the Butler County Prison in lieu $50,000 bail. He is facing felony and other charges.

State police said they were called to the campground on Herman Road around 11:50 p.m. for the altercation. Several witnesses intervened to stop the suspected assault before troopers arrived.

The witnesses told police that they heard the defendant say, “I will kill you,” during the incident, according to charging documents.

Police said their investigation found that Madden punched his wife in the face several times. He also is accused of grabbing her by the neck “to impede the (victim's) breathing,” documents said.

The woman's injuries included bruising and redness to the neck, swelling and bruising to the right eye and a cut to the bottom lip.

District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Madden on a felony charge of strangulation, misdemeanor charges of terroristic threats and simple assault and a summary charge of harassment.
