Woman, horse pass through Butler on cross-country domestic violence awareness ride

Subscribe online or in print to read the full article and learn more about Cherry, Apollo, their trip and their mission.Meredith Cherry horse-powered 7,300 miles across the country from California.“I hear at least once a day, 'That's not something you see every day,'” said Cherry, of California. “I hope I'm making a difference, and I know at least I've brought joy to people as I go.”Cherry and her horse, Apollo, a half mustang and half Peruvian Paso palomino, traveled across Butler Tuesday morning.After her horse tale began Jan. 1, 2017, Cherry and Apollo have hoofed it to 28 states. The mane way she will achieve her main goal is travel to 48 states in their four-year Centauride: Riding for Domestic Violence Awareness.On her journey, Cherry stops at domestic violence centers, women's shelters, schools and community centers to speak about her mission and the realities of domestic violence.By the time the two are finished, they will have traveled more than 10,000 miles.Cherry is currently on schedule to complete the journey in four years.
