Evelyn M. Grooms
Evelyn M. Grooms, 91, of Saxonburg passed away Tuesday at Concordia Lutheran Ministries.
She was born Sept. 3, 1927, in Butler, and was the daughter of the late Newton English and the late Wilda Strickenburg English.
Evelyn was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Butler. She was a member of Berean Sunday school class and the Women’s Missionary Fellowship.
Evelyn enjoyed crocheting, sewing and gardening and was an avid reader.
She is survived by two sons, John (Joyce) Grooms of Critz, Va., and Dave (Michele) Grooms of Sarver; two daughters, Darlene Grooms of Sarver and Joanne (Mark) Hughes of Butler; seven grandchildren, Becky Maupin, Melanie Cumberland, Melissa Druschel, Ashley Grooms, Lauren Hughes, Chris Grooms and Ryan Hughes; and three great-grandchildren, Anna Beth Cumberland, Caleb Maupin and Samuel Maupin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Grooms; one sister, Ethel Baker; and three brothers, George English, Raymond English and Charles English.
GROOMS — Friends of Evelyn M. Grooms, who died Tuesday, May 21, 2019, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor David Maitland of First Baptist Church officiating.
Private burial will take place in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., Butler, PA 16001.
