William John Rice
William John Rice, 85, of Evans City passed away on Wednesday while under the care of Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Born March 16, 1934, in Evans City, he was the son of the late Walter and Martha Neal Rice.
Bill was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Evans City.
He was a veteran and served proudly in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Reserves.
He loved to hunt and enjoyed traveling to his camp. He was an avid NASCAR racing fan, traveling to many races with family and friends.
He loved to garden.
Bill was a friend to all and always looked for the good in people. He loved his family and always put them first. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
Bill leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 63 years, Ann Tripp Rice, whom he married on Aug. 20, 1955; his children, Nancy (Rodger) Lees, Suzanne (David) Parsons and Sally (James Cave) Zamborski; his grandchildren, Carley (Matt) Parsons-Greenawalt, Benjamin Lees and Kelsey Lees; his great-grandson, Colton Lees; and his sister, Maddie (Harry) Shaffer.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by two sisters, Marjorie McCool and Gertrude Eagley; and an infant brother.
RICE — Friends of William John Rice, who died Wednesday, May 22, 2019, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Boylan Funeral Home, 116 E. Main St., Evans City.Additional visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday at the funeral home, followed by a funeral service at 12:30 p.m. with the Rev.
